Comfortable raised ranch had a kitchen that was barely functional. Only two modest walls were available for cabinets and appliances. One wall was shortened by a small pantry closet and the other by a large chase for ductwork. All of the appliances were squeezed onto one wall, leaving very little counter space and insufficient cabinets.
We removed the closet and reclaimed over a foot of space in the mostly empty HVAC chase. Now the plan provides for a range with microwave hood flanked by ample counter space and large cabinets. The remaining wall comfortably accommodates the sink, dishwasher, and a full size refrigerator with plenty of room for countertop and cabinets.
Swapping out the overly large oblong table for a large round completed the transformation.
